Chairman of the Board, Escuela de Negocios Mineros | Master’s Degree in Mathematics and Statistics, DPA, and MBA
In 2007, an idea began to take shape in Antofagasta among several key stakeholders in the region, including representatives of the regional government, CORFO, influential members of the Universidad Católica del Norte, and mining industry executives. Together, we shared a common vision: to contribute, from our privileged position as a world-class mining region, to the development of future leaders for the mining industry.
After numerous meetings and collaborative efforts, by 2009 we successfully established the final structure of the Escuela de Negocios Mineros (School of Mining Business). Since then, the institution has continued to grow steadily in every aspect.
Our model is unique, based on what we have observed internationally. The Board of Directors brings together representatives from the regional government, some of the world’s largest mining companies operating in Chile, the Antofagasta Industrial Association, and leading mining suppliers. This collaborative structure has transformed our institution into a project with tremendous potential and impact.
Our primary objective has always been to develop future leaders for both the local and global mining industries. We achieve this by combining the academic excellence of distinguished university professors and external experts with the practical experience of highly respected professionals from the mining sector. This integration creates a significant differentiating factor compared to other educational programs.
Today, with a solid reputation, an impeccable track record, strong financial standing, and strategic partnerships with prestigious universities around the world, our aspiration is clear: to become the leading School of Mining Business in Latin America, responding to the growing demand for highly qualified professionals required by the industry.
Through this message, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who believed in this project from the beginning; to the companies that continue to support this vision; to the regional government authorities who have consistently encouraged its development; to the Universidad Católica del Norte and each of its academics, who make us feel like active contributors to the university community; and finally, to our students, who have placed their trust and confidence in the Escuela de Negocios Mineros.
Together, we will continue building the future leaders of the mining industr
